Local Oakland Craftsperson
Born and raised in Oakland, Alton has dedicated his career to public service. Woodworking began as a hobby while restoring his home. Once he created furniture pieces for his own use, friends began requesting custom furniture. In addition to woodworking, Alton is involved with a variety of civic organizations and also provides consulting services for organizational development.

A lifelong resident of Oakland, Alton is very tied into the community. A graduate of Fremont High School, he attended San Jose State State on a music scholarship. After military service, he returned to Oakland and completed his Master's in Public Administration degree. In his career, he has served in a variety of professional and volunteer service roles.
Alton has worked as professional staff in the California State Assembly, the City of Oakland Mayor's Office and Chancellor's Office within the Peralta Community College District. In addition to his career positions, he has served as a Board Member for a variety of non-profit organizations. He currently serves as a lecturer in the Masters of Public Administration Program at California State University, East Bay.
His love and skill in woodworking were sparked by taking classes at Laney Community College in Oakland. Over the years his skills and interest has increased and he is pleased to be able to share his work with others.
